Biography:  Ryan Rauschenberger
North Dakota Tax Commissioner

Ryan Rauschenberger began serving as North Dakota Tax Commissioner in January 2014 when he was appointed by the Governor after serving as the Deputy Tax Commissioner for four and one-half years. Rauschenberger was then elected to a four-year term as Tax Commissioner in November 2014. 

Rauschenberger is dedicated to promoting sound fiscal management to stay within budget, effective administration and management of staff, accountability in the use of resources, ensuring strong customer service, efficient and effective use of technology, and sound policy decisions.

Prior to becoming the Deputy Tax Commissioner, Rauschenberger was the Manager of Energy Development at the North Dakota Department of Commerce where he worked on recruiting energy related businesses to the state and he staffed the state’s Energy Policy Commission, EmPower North Dakota.  Rauschenberger has also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor where he provided auditing services for the energy, manufacturing, and financial services industries.  

Rauschenberger graduated from the University of North Dakota (UND) with a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Masters of Business Administration.  He served on the UND Planning and Budget Committee and the University System’s ConnectND Governance Committee.
