Williston API Recognizes Achievement Award Winners-Tervita, Energy Outreach Williston, Continental Resources, and FracN8R

December 6, 2013, Williston, ND – The Williston Basin Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute (Williston API) announces the winners of the second annual Achievement Awards.  The Williston API Achievement Awards celebrate the many positive contributions and accomplishments of the oil and gas industry throughout the Williston Basin.

 

Industry Innovation Award – Tervita

The Industry Innovation Award recognizes significant achievement for advancements in technology, systems, processes and the application thereof in the oil and gas industry in the Williston Basin.

This year’s award was presented to Tervita, LLC for their establishment of the Blue Buttes disposal site south of Keene, North Dakota. The site provides drilling companies in the Williston Basin a more centralized location for non-hazardous exploration and production waste disposal.

 

Community Service Award – Energy Outreach Williston

The Community Service Award seeks to recognize individuals and organizations for their commitment to their community and contributions to community service. Nominee’s contributions of time and resources bolster community pride, enable local non-profit’s to meet their missions, strengthen our community boards of directors, and help solve community challenges.

 

This year’s award was presented to Energy Outreach Williston for their contribution of financial resources, manpower for community projects, involvement in local boards and committees, and other contributions in the Williston and surrounding areas. Energy Outreach Williston is a joint initiative by Statoil, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Oasis, Baker Hughes, and Nabors.

 

Outstanding Achievement – Continental Resources and FracN8R

The Outstanding Achievement Award identifies individuals and organizations deserving of recognition for an activity or accomplishment that can be described as an outstanding achievement in the Williston Basin. Judging resulted in a tie between Continental Resources and Monte “the FracN8R” Besler.

 

Continental Resources was recognized for their development of freshwater delivery and produced water collection systems spanning more than 70 miles of pipeline over a 30 spacing unit lease area in the heart of Williams County. The project achieved a triple bottom line result in the fact that it is economically feasible, socially responsible, and environmentally conscience.

 

The award was also presented to Monte “the FracN8R” Besler for his lifelong service and commitment to the energy industry and community in the Williston Basin.  With over 31 years of experience, Monte is a go-to resource and known to his peers as the encyclopedia of oil field technology, and always willing to help and mentor others in the industry. Monte has contributed his talents to the South Dakota School of Mines from which he graduated, the University of North Dakota, the Williston API, the Williston Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), the North Dakota Petroleum Council, the North Dakota Oil and Gas Research Council, Williston State College, and Mercy Medical Center of Williston.

 

Williston API and the Williston Petroleum Banquet

The awards were presented during the Williston Petroleum Banquet held on December 5, 2013 at Williston State College. The evening included a program featuring award presentations and a special keynote address by Scott W. Tinker. Industry participants and community leaders gathered to enjoy fine dining, networking and entertainment in celebration of the oil and gas industry in the Williston Basin.
